It’s Been Awhile

I know, I know it has been two months since my last post.  I ran into a friend at Target about a month ago and she got onto me for not posting.  She said she reads the blog to keep up with our family.  Well I hate to disapoint her but this post is not an update on my family but something that just melted my heart. (Joey makes fun of me when I use that phrase.)

There is a blog that I enjoy reading from time to time called Daniel Drinker.  I am not sure how I found his blog in the beginning but I was drawn in from the documentary that he and his brother are making.  Dan and his brother Will were born one year apart.  Dan has Down syndrome.  Will is making a documentary of Dan’s life.  I have watched many of their videos and usually I am crying from laughing or just from the innocent mind of Dan.  My favorite video is when Dan sees Will kissing his girlfriend.  Dan starts crying because he thinks Will doesn’t love him anymore.

I think reading this blog is theraputic for me in many ways.  It helps me to see just how priviledged we are to have a child with Down syndrome.  I am excited to see how Josiah is going to touch the lives of people with the love that has for people.

Dan’s post at Thanksgiving had me laughing so I thought I would share it with you.

Happy Thanksgiving

(At breakfast)

Dan, “I go to Melmark and home and Gran’s and then…

what tomorrow?”

Ned, “Thanksgiving”.

Dan, “Oh yeah, Thanksgiving. And then …”

Ned, “Black Friday, when everybody goes shopping.”

Dan, “Why we go shopping, we not black? Barack Obama black.”
